News Article from Condo Management News (More Info)
Dear Scott: Our Board of Directors at Vinceremos want to thank you and TEM Systems for this generous donation of the security system installed at our Center. We feel it is the solution to the bold invasion of our property and the problem we have had with tails being cut. You need to know that we have had many discussions at Board meetings on how we ever would be able to solve this security issue, which has gone back years to the vandalism of the property when we first bought it, and then the two golf carts that were stolen and most recently the tails cut. We would have dismissed such an elaborated security system as way beyond our means. We so appreciate your generosity and we must tell you that our girls living on the property are sleeping much sounder with this security system in place. If ever we can be a testimony to ï ¿ ½the source behind the solutionï ¿ ½ we would love for you to call on us. We note with interest how those cameras were used to catch a policeman in Chicago beating up a bartender for refusing to serve him. That has been played on CNN all week. This all will make our staff and volunteers be more observant of the safety rules we have in place. Again, we canï ¿ ½t thank you enough for stepping up to solve this big problem for us. Sincerely, Ruth Menor, Executive Director

Transcore Ego Transponder News Exerpt from Tollroadsnews... Fred Philipson, Services Director, at Harris County Toll Road Authority told us the Houston TX system's eGo+ sticker tags "are working fine." He said: "They aren't causing us any trouble." He says they average 15 or 16 'handshakes' or read or write opportunities per pass at 60mph (100km/hr). That's quite enough, says Philpson, though it is five or six fewer than the battery-powered box tags they use and five or six more than the unpowered box transponders NTTA uses. No surprises "We've set up the readers so we have two different read zones, one for the sticker tags, the other for the battery powered box transponders. We're actually doing better with the sticker tags than with the (box) transponders," Philipson said. Major reason for the better result, Philipson said, is that with sticker tags they get stuck on the windshield permanently: "Customers can't take them off and move them around. Once they are on the windshield they are really stuck there." Quite a lot of read failures with box transponders attached by velcro are due to motorists not mounting the transponder - then waving it at the reader held in one hand, or even forgetting about it and having it in the glovebox where it usually won't read. Phasing out all box transponders in favor of stickers Others So far only TransCore has formally announced and is selling sticker tags, but Sirit also has one ready. Their major sales of transponders have been in California to that state's now ancient Title 21 standard. The toll agencies want the standard modernized but until its future is clear it won't pay a manufacturer to engineer a new transponder.
